Linework Practice by kvernikovskiy Linework Practice by kvernikovskiy
A professional giving a tutorial said that line drawings is something they look for in new hires because it's a.) in demand and b.) shows that the artist has skill in a way speedpainting doesn't.

My line art and inking is... lacking.

Wow. That looks like the most epic television set ever. :O

Linearts like these would be great for concept art or storyboard drawing, where I'm guessing a lot of the demand might be.

Linework is indeed mandatory for concept art and storyboard.

I'm not nearly on the level for that yet, though. Examples: [link] [link]

Yeah, ponies are distracting like that. Tend to sneak into things. Sneaky ponies.

Interesting, this marker technique sure has caught my attention; though, I see you only applied it to your mech and not the ponies. Any reason? Does that just not help there?

Your mech looks good btw, but a little cluttered and asymmetrical in strange places. Especially the top, which seems not to have any defined form. Time to practice? I know I am now, you fountain of inspiration you.

Well, I already drew so many pony that drawing 'generic pony face profile' doesn't require much marker assistance. The marker thing is mostly for blocking out a shape to help your imagination sort out what's going to happen later, and to overcome the various problems of staring at a blank page. Not really necessary with pones.

And yeah, like I said, my whole line-drawing suite of skills could use work. That guy who did the examples I posted earlier just makes me so jelly though! Can't not try.

Oh wow, it helps approximately 0% for me with ponies, but it helped me push out a little mech pretty darn quickly. It just doesn't play well with anything curvilinear.
